It cannot be a coincidence that Woody Allen lost his custody case the same week that a secret military coup installed David Gergen in the White House. Here we have two men--Clinton and Allen--differing markedly in height, weight, ethnic background and known sexual predilections. Yet both come from the Democratic side of the political spectrum, and both, incredibly enough, got their comeuppance within the space of a few short days.
In both cases, the tragedy had been building for months, if not years. An early sign of Clinton's approaching downfall was the celebrated haircut on a Los Angeles runway, with its obvious Samson-like overtones. Then the Secret Service ...
