Dec. 31--It took a little convincing from their three children, but Stephanie Regalado and her husband, Joe, agreed to bring a puppy home from SpokAnimal for Christmas. She was saddened by the sight of so many dogs in cages and thought it would be a nice gift for her family and their 3-year-old chocolate lab, Henry. But on Christmas Eve, the 10-week-old black lab called Bones appeared lethargic, had stopped eating and was suffering from severe diarrhea.
