Jan. 1--The city became a bit more elegant last year with two new public sculptures - one whimsical, the other historical - and a refabricated favorite.
In South Toledo's Walbridge Park, a 22-foot-high arch, topped by branches made from shiny cast-aluminum, has been installed. Tucked into the branched top of this whimsical $100,000 project by two artists from Washington state, are birds, including an eye-catching red one.
The larger-than-life James A. Rhodes bronze statue of the former Ohio governor was dedicated in front of One Government Center in January.
