Jan. 1--VICTORVILLE -- Goodbye 2005, hello 2006.Many people have various New Year's Day traditions designed to ensure good luck throughout the year. These traditions spring forth from the far corners of the Earth and include eating certain foods, from donuts to pork chops.
In the Southern United States eating black-eyed peas with hog jowls, ham or collard greens is lucky. Frank Williams, CEO of the Baldy View Chapter of the Building Industry Association, swears by the tradition.
