It's the dawn of a new year, when anything seems possible, even reforming our oldest and worst habits.

There are certainly columns from 2005 I'd like a chance to rewrite. Mostly, I feel bad about making people mad when I didn't intend to.

Last summer when Middleton was named one of the best cities in America, I wrote a column spoofing Madison's status as a fading starlet complaining about the hot young upstart, Middleton. While some readers saw the humor, others, especially at the Club Tavern and points west, took me seriously, and demanded I correct my count of the number of ponds in the city of Middleton.
