THE mother of a British backpacker murdered on an island in Thailand heard her daughter scream over her mobile phone as she was attacked.
She also heard a dog barking - then the phone line cut out.
Moments later, it is thought Katherine Horton, 21, was raped and beaten - then dragged into the sea.
The University of Reading student was on a two-week holiday with her friend Ruth Adams, 21. They were staying on the tourist island of Ko Samui.
