Jan. 5--While the number of houses being built across California is expected to take a dip this year, state experts say construction in the Central Valley should stay strong.
That's especially true in areas like Bakersfield, where housing is still some of the most affordable in the state, said Alan Nevin, chief economist for the California Building Industry Association.
Although the final numbers aren't in yet, it looks like the Bakersfield area will have produced more single-family houses this past year than San Diego County, Nevin said Wednesday.
