It was three o'clock and through the little white schoolhouse at Albury went a rustle and commotion. Slates and pencils were being thrust out of sight, books were being stowed away in satchels and baskets and forty pairs of eyes were sparkling joyously over the prospect of freedom.
But Miss Webber had an announcement to make before she gave the word of dismissal--an announcement which sent a ripple of excitement through the whole school and especially through the Fifth Class.
The Fifth Class was a very good one. There were fourteen members in it, and they were the backbone of the institution on all special occasions. No prowling trustee dropping in casual-like to see ...
