Custom fishing rods, which include a lifetime warranty and are valued at $150, are among this weekend's Northwest Chicago Sports Show prizes at Arlington Park.
The outdoor fishing show draws its vendors from around the country, but these specialty rods, called Grandt Rods, are the handiwork of an Arlington Heights resident.
Jim Grandt is in his 25th year producing custom fishing rods, and they are becoming more desirable than ever. Over the years his clients have ranged from former President George Bush and Vice President Al Gore, to singers Jimmy Buffett and Tony Bennett.
