Jan. 6--If the saga of Scripps Florida seems like musical chairs, the Boca Raton area might wind up claiming the final seat.
As other options get squeezed out by legal, financial and other concerns, Boca Raton and neighboring cities are working feverishly to land the biotech plum, backed by hundreds of millions of state and county dollars.
And the Boca Raton-area plan, which includes parts of Broward County, made some headway Thursday. Palm Beach County commissioners asked for more on what the Boca Raton team has in mind. Meanwhile, Boca Raton officials made plans to try to gain the ear of another key player, Gov. Jeb Bush, as soon as today.
