SAN FRANCISCO -- What is the true measure of a country's prosperity? For Bhutan, an ancient kingdom secluded high in the eastern Himalayas, "Gross National Happiness" (GNH) is its guide. On two occasions this month in the Bay Area His Excellency Lyonpo Jigmi Y. Thinley, Minister for Home and Cultural Affairs, Royal Government of Bhutan will explain this concept in his popular keynote, "Gross National Happiness -- Bhutan's Guiding Development Philosophy" -- on January 23 at the Commonwealth Club of California and on January 24 at UC Berkeley International House, Chevron Auditorium.
