Customers of communications company Sprint Nextel Corp went without service along the West Coast in the US for several hours when a fibre-optic cable was cut.
Long-distance, Internet and wireless customers were left without service for several hours when the cable was cut between Phoenix and Palm Springs, California. Sprint Nextel said the cable was cut at around 1530 EST and repaired by 1900 EST and confirmed that service had been restored to areas affected.
