The European Commission has given clearance to the takeover of UK consumer healthcare firm Boots Healthcare International (BHI) by Reckitt Benckiser. BHI was previously owned by the Boots Group plc, one of the UK's largest chains of healthcare stores. BHI manufactures and sells over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, including brands such as Nurofen (analgesics), Strepsils (medicated throat confectionery) and Clearasil (anti-acne treatment).
