As former Sen. Jon Corzine gears up for his first term as New Jersey governor, newly minted Assembly Speaker Joseph Roberts Jr. is making his own plans to shepherd the state's lower chamber towards the promise of fiscal reform.
Roberts, the 53-year-old restaurateur and son of a funeral director, was first elected to the Assembly in 1987. On Tuesday, the Democrat snared votes from all 80 members of the Assembly to become the state's 175th Assembly speaker.
