Jan. 11--Snow that blanketed much of northern and western Oklahoma did little to quench a devastating drought or tame a wicked wildfire season. But farmers and kids celebrated anyway.The snowfall was sandwiched between record highs last weekend and the warm weather forecast for the rest of this week. On Tuesday, wildfires fizzled; three blazes burned about 22 acres, said officials at the fire Incident Command Post in Shawnee. A statewide burn ban remains and for good reason, said Sarah Gracey, a state fire information officer.
