FEW sportsmen are as secretive about their sport as big-game hunters. After all, in most company nowadays it is hardly permissible even to condone the killing of an elephant for fun, let alone to admit to wanting to do it yourself. Nonetheless, the sport is thriving, perhaps as never before. Big money is at stake, for hunters are prepared to pay well for good trophies. And, despite their irretrievable political incorrectness, hunters are increasingly seen as the good guys in conservation, especially in Africa.
