PATIENTS could be turned away from treatment until the next financial year so NHS trusts can save money, the head of the British Medical Association warned yesterday.
BMA chairman James Johnson said doctors would not play 'silly games' or 'collude' with NHS managers to claw back financial deficits in ways that harmed patients.
Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt has urged trusts to put their finances in order after the NHS in England forecast a total deficit of about [pounds sterling]620million for 2005/06.
