Wenatchee Valley College president Jim Richardson spent time in Olympia just before Christmas working on an idea that might change the way businesses view training programs--for the better.
A bill is being introduced that would allow community colleges to provide specialized technical training for employees of existing or new businesses. It would be a tool for business recruiters, for instance, to attract large manufacturing companies to an area by guaranteeing trained workers within a matter of weeks or months.
