TOKYO, Jan 13 Asia Pulse - Fujikura Ltd. (TSE:5803), a leading wire and cable maker, plans to enter the market for solar cells as early as 2008 with a technology for manufacturing dye-sensitized solar cells in large-sized panels.

The company plans to use this technology to market solar cells that cost 20-30 per cent less than existing silicon solar cells.

Fujikura makes its panels using inexpensive titanium oxide and a screen-printing technique to place the collector wiring on the glass substrate. In early attempts, the company could only make panels around 10cm in size because in larger sizes the resistance would ...
