Jan. 15--The Illinois Soybean Association plans to elect six new farmer directors later this month as part of a reorganization effort to consolidate its boards.
In prior years, the Illinois Soybean Association handled membership and legislative activities and the Illinois Soybean Checkoff Board focused on research and promotion work. Both were managed by two separate farmer boards, and staff worked for both groups.
Farmers in 2005 decided to create an umbrella organization and have just one board of farmer directors to oversee activities.
