L LIVERPOOL council leader Warren Bradley took a stroll through the city centre yesterday to get the lowdown on Britain's street scourge.
He described what he saw as a "blob on the urban landscape", a problem that has invaded every street and town.
Every pavement stone contained at least three hardened blobs of discarded chewing gum.
The unsightly menace is the reason the city is waging war on manufacturers as well as the culprits who dump their used gum in the streets.. Now the council is determined to press ahead with its campaign for a penny-a-packet tax on chewing gum.
