Strong Chllengers to Intel/Microsoft for TV-Top Computer Market
The platform wars of the PC industry are coming soon to a TV near you.
When Intel and Microsoft announced they would deliver microprocessor and software technology for the next generation of interactive cable-tv converters, there was immediate concern that the duo might dominate the emerging I-TV terminal business as they have the PC market in the past.
However, the potential for more than 60 million new TV-top computers was sure to attract strong competition, and shortly thereafter, five other companies were pledging to offer alternative interactive-TV platforms.
