Wolfie, who used to be Jim Jacobsen's dog, was born in a snowdrift in Plentywood, Mont.
"Gets damned cold here," said Ron Ziedler, the Plentywood breeder who sold Wolfie to Jacobsen four years ago. "But these are Alaskan malamutes. They like it cold. You put that dog inside and they're miserable. They'll just lay down, with their tongues hanging out."
But these days, Wolfie is inside, in a Minneapolis Animal Control kennel. The healthy dog was taken from Jacobsen on Dec. 17 because Animal Control employees determined that Jacobsen was not properly caring for his dog. Most of the time, he was keeping the dog ...
