EVERY year, 50,000 people have their appendix removed on the NHS. New keyhole techniques can make the procedure faster and safer, and leave less of a scar, but relatively few surgeons know how to use them. Here, Robin Richards, 23, an insurance claims technician from Enfield, Middlesex, tells ANGELA BROOKS about his keyhole operation and his surgeon explains it.
