THAT a Mozart was born once,' wrote the music critic Sir Neville Cardus, 'is a happening which beggars understanding, all known science, all psychology, biology, physics and metaphysics, and all cosmogony whatever.' By the end of this year, the 250th anniversary of the composer's birth (the actual date is next Friday, January 27), much of the world will have visited his birthplace, Salzburg.
