Knut was eclectic in his research interests and publications on cycad biology, and volume 70, numbers 1 and 2 of the Botanical Review reflect his interests, with articles ranging from ultrastructure to tissue culture to field biology.
The articles contained in the present two issues are one of the products of the Fifth International Conference on Cycad Biology, held at the Fairchild Tropical Garden in August 1999 immediately following the XVI International Botanical Congress, held in St. Louis.
