We have just come through another holiday splurge by America's gadget- giddy, laptop-loving, handheld-happy, network-nutty, download-daffy population. This month's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas displayed the newest (and future) versions from 2,000 manufacturers who sell $122 billion worth a year of devices. It's an earthquake of entertainment, information and communications that sends aftershocks rumbling through once-stable media markets. But will some of these new electronic companions not only seek, but also destroy part of the media establishment? I think not.
