SPRINGFIELD - Tammy Fitch has announced that she will not seek a third term on the Springfield City Council in this year's election.
Fitch, 52, said she has personal reasons for choosing to not campaign for re-election to her Ward 2 seat. She was elected to the City Council in 1998 and won a second term after running unopposed in 2002.
"It's time for someone else to step up and do this," Fitch said Wednesday. "There are so many good people in Ward 2 who have a lot to give back to Springfield."
Ward 2 includes Glenwood and the southwest corner of Springfield.
