I have just returned from the last of three visits to Fort Benning, Georgia, that have restored my confidence in the future of the Infantry and the long tradition of honorable service and sacrifice.
My wife and I were able to visit our son at the Infantry Training Brigade on Sand Hill for a Memorial Day/Family Day weekend. The presentation of troops in the Infantry OSUT Company was correct, disciplined and a real impact to parents, friends, and family. Most of these Soldiers had only been allowed a few phone privileges in the past eight weeks and fewer still letters.
