"Promotion" or "Staff College Entrance" Examination in the Army required a "certificate" on the cover of the Examination Paper that contents of the question paper were not known to the candidate before he sat down for the Examination. Qualifying "Lower Urdu" was required for "Lieutenant to Captain" Promotion, (then Lt) AA Jilani wrote, "Certified that I did not know the contents of the question paper before, during or after the examination", unquote.
