Introduction
It is well established that people with diabetes, regardless of type, can reduce the risk of long-term complications by maintaining good glycaemic control (Diabetes Control and Complications Trial [DCCT] Research Group, 1993; UK Prospective Diabetes Study [UKPDS] Group, 1998). Self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) provides immediate feedback to assist in the maintenance of good glycaemic control.
