LETTERMAN is a surname that is not too common or uncommon in the United States, as in David Letterman, the TV talk show host whose nightly episodes entertain a global audience hooked on cable by satellite. If Letterman refers to one person, what is the plural? Lettermen?
The Lettermen from Los Angeles circa the Sixties are in town for a series of shows starting tonight at the Manila Hotel. We donat know why Tony Butala, the remaining original from the group, chose Lettermen for a name, if itas because one of their forefathers was a postman or belonged to a fraternity distinguished by Greek letters or if they were highly literate. What we know is the trio can carry a tune.
