Judo sensei (teacher) Alex Avedikian works the perimeter of the mat, explaining the correct form - and Japanese words - for the throws his students are expected to execute.
Curious onlookers, many of them other occupants of the inconspicuous complex in Chaska where Avedikian's Three Moons Studios is located, watch as the Gallego brothers - Julian, 9, and Camilo, 12 - pick up the intensity while facing one another.
To those unfamiliar with the martial art of judo, the scene is quite foreign. But at one of the most successful of Minnesota's dozen judo clubs, it's just a typical Wednesday night.
