NEW YORK -- In one of the first attempts to gauge the acceptance of Computer Aided Design (CAD) in the apparel industry, a study has concluded that CAD use is firmly entrenched and expected to grow.

According to the survey, sponsored by the National Knitwear & Sportswear Association and the AGC Report, 51 percent of the apparel industry is currently using CAD systems for design, and many are contemplating buying a system in the near future.

The study was conducted as follows: 300 randomly chosen apparel designers were sent questionnaires by mail. Seventy-five filled out the survey, for a response rate of 25 percent.
