Jan. 26--The PGA Tour season starts this week.

OK, technically, the season began three weeks ago at the Mercedes Championships in Maui. Chad Campbell already has pocketed $1,348,800 in January and the cash is very real in his eyes.

But the first three tournaments were more like warm-up acts. This week, the only player who matters (at least to some fans) finally steps to the tee.

Tiger Woods will make his 2006 debut at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines outside of San Diego. He decided to skip the Mercedes this year, saying he wanted to rest after a busy "off-season" in November and December.
