Churchill's Mercedes Alexander led her team to victory in the battle of the Midwestern League leaders Monday night.
The 5-foot-11 senior post scored a game-high 25 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to help the Lancers earn a 55-46 victory over Willamette in a girls basketball game at the Lancerdome.
The victory gives Churchill - which beat Willamette for the first time in coach Chris Stewart's four years as coach - sole possession of first place (9-1), uncharted waters for the Lancers.
