NEW YORK -- Gucci America Inc. filed a counterclaim Monday seeking a $20 million judgment in the lawsuit brought against it last month by Guccio Gucci SpA.

As noted, Italy-based Guccio sued Gucci America in Federal Court here charging it owed $63.9 million for non-payment of merchandise plus interest.

Gucci America contends Maurizio Gucci as chairman of both firms used his control to require it to pay inflated prices for goods bought from the Italian firm.
