For many MPs the most important time in our working lives is when you get out of Westminster and head back to the constituency - after all, it's people on the ground who are best placed to say where Government policy is working, and where we need to do more.
For me, it's my monthly residents' meetings that bring this home most effectively. At 12.30 and 6.30pm I make tea and coffee for a group of residents, and over the course of 40 minutes I ask what's going on right outside their front door.
