Jan. 27--Ninety acres near Bartlett will soon feel the rumble of earthmoving equipment, but this time it's not for a new subdivision or to plant rows of corn.
The area will be restored over the next few years to its former state--wetlands--as a replacement for 154 acres of wetlands being lost to the expansion of O'Hare International Airport.
It's a high-profile example of the now common practice of mitigation--restoring or creating new wetlands to offset others destroyed in the wake of development.
