CHICAGO _ Sour grapes flowed liberally when Frank Thomas surfaced in Oakland. That's a shame, but not really surprising. Insecurity always has made Thomas a very human being.
While criticizing Jerry Reinsdorf and the White Sox for a lack of loyalty, Thomas would have been well served to remember "the Chairman's" actions three years ago. Reinsdorf went against the reservations of his baseball staff to renegotiate Thomas' contract rather than hitting him with the full force of the diminished-skills clause and wound up paying him $19 million for 72 home runs and 180 RBI over 261 games in 2003-05.
