Article: ZHEJIANG PROVINCE LEADS CHINA IN PER CAPITA GDP.

HANGZHOU, Jan 30 Asia Pulse - Zhejiang Province has become the first Chinese province to register a per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of over US$3,000.

The province's GDP totaled 1.336 trillion yuan (US$165.7 billion) in 2005 - a per capita GDP of US$3,400 compared to a per capita figure of US$2,890 the previous year.

Fast economic growth in recent years has brought great benefits to residents. By the end of last year, the proportion of urban families with a per capita disposable income lower than 8,000 yuan dropped to 14.4 per cent, 30 points lower than in 2000, according to the Zhejiang Provincial Statistics Bureau.
