It was the launch of Jaguar's new XK - but I wish I had put a bet on how long it would take before the carmaker's executives started talking about the legendary E-Type.
For, sure enough, we were only two minutes into the presentation of this stunning new car before comparisons were being made with that famous old one.
The E-Type smile is still there, though the XK's styling is more muscular and less feline.
Like Jaguars of old, the new car makes your nerves tingle when you hear it growl.
And, once set free on the road, it moves with such poise and grace that it looks simply sensational.
