The DMA (UK) has hired former Royal Mail chief Alex Walsh to head its postal executive, following the decision to split in two David Robottom's role of director of industry development and postal affairs.

Walsh, who worked at Royal Mail for nearly a decade, most recently as head of mailing agents and trade associations, becomes head of postal affairs.

DMA managing director James Kelly says: "Alex brings a great deal of knowledge and experience of the postal market, and will strengthen our position in the market."
