Jan. 31--NEW YORK -- Exxon Mobil Corp. said Monday its net profit for the October-December quarter jumped 27.2 percent from a year earlier to $10.71 billion, a record-high quarterly profit, bolstered by persistently high crude oil prices.

Sales grew 19.5 percent to $99.66 billion.

During the three-month period under review, the oil giant's production in the United States temporarily declined due to the effects of hurricanes Katrina and Rita that hit the southern part of the country last year.
