Jan. 31--Some University of Alabama basketball fans in North Alabama were surprised Saturday when they tuned in to Fox Sports Net South, hoping to see the Crimson Tide's game against Mississippi State.
Instead, they saw hockey.
Because of Fox Sports Net's contract to carry the Nashville Predators, their Saturday night game at Columbus was carried on the FSN South channel on many North Alabama and North Mississippi cable companies.
That, according to FSN spokesman Jamie Kimbrough, is part of the NHL's contract that specifies certain parts of the mid-South as the Predators' television territory. Most of North Alabama ...
