McLeod Russel reports Rs 9.12 crore net loss

Kolkata, Jan 31 (PTI) McLeod Russel India Limited, the largest integrated tea company in the world following two major acquisitions recently, today announced a net loss of Rs 9.12 crore in quarter ended December 31, 2005, despite a 23 percent growth in sales to Rs 119.35 crore.

Announcing the third quarter result, company vice chairman Deepak Khaitan said the negative result was mainly due to impact of acquiring Williamson Tea from London-based Magors at a total cost of nearly Rs 169 crore.

The interest pay-out during the quarter was Rs 9.77 crore against Rs 7.24 crore in the corresponding period ...
