CHESAPEAKE - A jury has found a 20-year-old Chesapeake man guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the fatal March 2005 shooting of Sylvester White Jr.
The jury returned the verdict Friday against Emmanuel Nathaniel Ricks in Chesapeake Circuit Court after deliberating more than 90 minutes. Ricks also was found guilty of discharging a firearm from a vehicle. He was cleared of a third charge of use of a firearm in the crime.
Jurors are scheduled to return Monday morning for the sentencing phase of the trial. Ricks had faced a charge of first-degree murder ...
