Without provocation, and before she could even sit down at her desk, Lane Event Center Ice Center manager Cindy Jensen rattled off a handful of reasons why hockey, she joked, is the "bane of my existence."
"It's hard on the building, it's hard on my staff, it's hard on the ice and everyone wants to play at 7 p.m., so the scheduling is brutal," she said as she held up a weekly schedule printout, which looked like a freshly opened box of crayons, with each hourly square of each columned day filled in with a different color to indicate who had booked ice time.
