NEW YORK -- With television sets that talk back to viewers right around the corner, stores and catalogers are trying to make tomorrow's technology happen today.
Instead of waiting for advances in communications to become commonplace, retailers are already deep into plans that will make interactive shopping the norm. Here are a few of the developments now under way:
* Nordstrom Inc. has created a system that could turn an ordinary television set into an interactive shopping tool. If testing goes well, it will roll out next year.
