The first thing to understand about John Harmer is that he's not Malcolm Bricklin.
Both are trying to bring Chinese cars to America. But the resemblance ends there.
Bricklin is a born salesman who brought Subarus and Yugos into the United States. He has brash plans in the United States for Chery Automobile Co.
Harmer, 71, COO of Geely (JEE'-Lee) USA Inc., was California's lieutenant governor for three months under Gov. Ronald Reagan. Working now in Salt Lake City, he speaks in gentlemanly tones, has raised 10 children and campaigns against pornography.
